AMI Payments launches Developer Portal with API access and Sandbox testing
New release gives customers the choice to access AMI’s services through its user interfaces or connect through APIs.
26 October 2026 — AMI Payments has launched its Developer Portal, enabling banks, fintechs, remittance providers and payment companies to connect to its services through APIs and test their integrations using the AMI Sandbox.
The launch expands how customers can access AMI’s cross-border payment testing, verification and performance intelligence services. Teams can use AMI’s user interfaces directly or connect through APIs to incorporate its services into their own systems and workflows.
For firms sending payments into Africa, understanding what happens at the receiving end is essential. A payment marked as completed does not, by itself, establish whether the beneficiary received the expected amount, whether payment information appeared correctly, or whether delivery met the promised turnaround time. AMI helps firms examine these outcomes and identify gaps that affect customer experience and payment performance.
The Developer Portal gives technical teams a dedicated route to connect with AMI, while the Sandbox provides an environment to test integrations before using them in production.
“Payment performance needs to be visible and useful to the teams responsible for improving it,” said Sama Danesh, Growth Director of AMI Payments. “Our Developer Portal gives customers more flexibility in how they work with us. They can use our interfaces or connect through APIs, with a Sandbox to test their integration. The goal is to make payment verification easier to incorporate into the way firms already operate.”
With this release, customers can:
Choose how they access AMI: Use its user interfaces or connect to its services through APIs.
Test their integrations: Use the AMI Sandbox to test connectivity and integration behaviour.
Connect verification to existing workflows: Build connections between AMI’s services and their own systems.
The launch supports AMI’s mission to make cross-border payment performance across Africa more visible, measurable and actionable. By giving customers additional ways to access its services, AMI aims to help firms bring payment verification closer to their day-to-day product and operational decisions.
